CNC Machine Operator

Job Purpose:

Operate various machines to perform light to moderate repetitive work. Load and unload parts. Measure parts and make minor tool offset adjustments.

Essential Duties:

  • Manufacture parts as per work instructions (blueprints and inspection sheets).
  • Knowledge of machine controls and functions
  • Able to Perform Machine set-ups
  • Load / Unload machines as assigned
  • Use measuring instruments such as calipers and pins to measure parts;
  • Make minor tool offset adjustments with supervision
  • Performs Quality check as instructed
  • Identify nonconforming parts and follow proper reporting procedures
  • Complete in process checks as instructed
  • Correctly logs labor posting time and quantities daily
  • Complete all required documentation thoroughly and promptly

Educational Requirements:
OSSD or equivalent

Other Education/Certification/Training: 
Certified General Machinist or Tool and Die, CNC program reading, GD&T

Work Experience Requirements:
2 plus years CNC Machining

Technical requirements:
Equipment: Knowledge of Leibherr, Koepfer, Klingenberg P40 and P65 will be considered an asset.
Software: Knowledge of Siemens and machine specific software will be considered an asset.

Buyer, Gear Division

About the Job:

The Buyer in this role is responsible for ordering raw material, coordinating outsourcing, developing and maintain suppliers, negotiating prices and arranging for the purchase and delivery of the product or services required.

Essential Duties:

• Serve as a liaison between ODG and its subcontractors to ensure that jobs are sent out, and received on time to support production goals
• Assist in obtaining quotes for parts and processes necessary for new and upcoming jobs
• Develop relationships with key personnel in the customer base and specified key accounts
• Act on weekly demands for materials; maintain and issue orders
• Analyze current inventory and develop a reduction strategy
• Build, develop and work with our supply base to meet our customer needs
• Maintain supplier bids, supplier quotes, contract expiry dates
• Perform site visits to support current suppliers and grow new suppliers
• Meet with representatives from subcontractors to address performance, pricing, and any other concerns
• Maintain daily supplier relationships to support customer requirements and ODG schedules
• Manage the daily Purchasing and Supply Chain requirements by reviewing, developing, and measuring qualified suppliers
• Work with department Supervisors to ensure production and non-production requirements are met
• Work with the Engineering team to identify materials for new projects and prototypes
• Work closely with Program Management, Production, QA, and Engineering
• Support the Purchasing team and goals set out for the department

• Read and Understand CAD drawings and blueprint reading
• Profitability analysis [at a product level]

Educational Requirements:

• Minimum of College Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration

Work Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
• Two (2) years’ experience in a Supplier Management or Marketing role within the manufacturing industry is preferred
• Excellent knowledge of Purchasing concepts
• The ability to understand and utilize professional selling skills
• Two (2) years of specific gear/transmission experience is an asset
