Shift:                           Days Monday to Friday

# Positions:               2 (1 Vehicle Division and 1 Gear Division)

Essential Duties:

  • Direct and oversee the quality team and final product inspection for completion of daily tasks;
  • Provide technical support and services for the Quality Inspectors;
  • Conduct incoming receiving inspections on components and assemblies to ensure all components are conforming prior to the assembly process.
  • Maintain accurate records including red/yellow tags, deviations, inspection logs.
  • Direct and co-ordinate, quality activities which meet the needs of various departments;
  • Liaison between engineering, purchasing, operations, suppliers and customers regarding quality issues by determining disposition and possible rework plans for nonconforming parts;
  • Provide technical support when troubleshooting lab equipment as well as developing new inspection programs such as programs for CMMs and other automated inspection equipment;
  • Coordinate service work with outside vendors to ensure all lab equipment is calibrated and in good working order;
  • Compile and maintain production quality records and interpret experimental or analytical results;
  • Ensure that systems/equipment operate efficiently;
  • Identify and communicate nonconformance (internal and external), follow proper reporting procedures, determine disposition and as required investigate root cause;

Educational Requirements:

Post-Secondary Education in Quality Assurance or Manufacturing Engineering and several years’ experience in a related field and possess relevant Industry knowledge.

Work experience required: 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment in a same or similar role. Hands on mechanical and electrical experience is considered an asset.

Job Related Experience Required:

  • Advanced level of GD&T;
  • Continuous improvement of non-conformances in business systems;
  • Experience with Gear design and principles, manufacturing methods, equipment and materials;
  • Experience of participation in a product development team from inception to manufacturing launch to final product verification and validation;
  • Knowledge and execution experience of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow;
  • Knowledge of the requirements of TS16949 and ISO9001
  • Strong leadership abilities, able to lead effective team members along with the ability to coach and motive team members to manage changing priorities to support the business;
  • Quality Control background including problem solving and root cause analysis;
  • Sound technical background (hands-on) with logical deductive reasoning approach;
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.

Equipment:

  • Familiar with Mitutoyo CMM machines for operation and programming;
  • Use of hand measurement tools such as gauge blocks, micrometers, calipers, bore gauges and height gauges.

Software:

  • Microsoft Office programs, UniPoint, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Minitab software tools.
