ODG has a vast wealth of knowledge and experience in the design of gears and transmissions. Often our engineers get involved in projects such as:
- Improving an existing design for manufacturing and/or cost reductions
- Optimizing a gear mesh for noise to produce quiet gears and/or to improve gear load carry capacity by using advanced gear micro geometry correction techniques. ODG is a consortium member of the Ohio State GearLab, using LDP as a standard for gear micro geometry design.
- Designing a transmission system with basic customer inputs such as torque, speed, weight and size to offer a “black box” design. These designs go beyond just gears and look at the entire system including elements such as bearings, seals, oils and housings. ODG has solid modelling and FEA capabilities.
